FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Questions Answered

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic is a form of primary health care based on the scientific principles that our body is a self-healing entity. It is a drug-free, hands-on therapy that looks at the relationship between the structure or alignment of our spine and the function of our nervous system as well as its influence on our health.

HOW DOES CHIROPRACTIC WORK?

Gentle manipulation techniques are used on the spine and other joints of the body to relieve pain and restore normal joint mobility.
By re-aligning the spine and relieving irritation of the adjacent nerves, the spinal column is allowed to function at its optimum stage.

How effective is Chiropractic?

A recent study conducted by the Medical Research Council showed that patients who received chiropractic treatment for low back pain experienced a greater reduction in disability than those who attended hospital out-patient departments. The benefits of chiropractic care were also longer lasting. The study recommended that Chiropractic treatment should be available on the NHS in Britain as is the case in Scandinavia, Switzerland and New Zealand. Many of our happy patients have shared their positive experiences in the Google review and we have included some of our patients’ experiences on the testimonials.

WHY SEE A REGISTERED CHIROPRACTOR?

Fully qualified and legally registered  chiropractor provide safe treatment and a high standard of care.
The code of general chiropractic council outlines the standards of performance, conduct and ethics that are expected of chiropractors in the UK. Chiropractors must meet the standards in order to join and remain on the register.

HOW MANY VISITS WILL I NEED?

The number of visits will depend on:

  • Your condition and its severity

  • How long you have had the condition

  • How you respond to the treatment

  • How much of your chiropractor's advice you follow

Typically people notice a change in their condition after two to six sessions.

WILL THE TREATMENT HURT?

The treatment is usually painless unless an area is inflamed (swollen).

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER THE TREATMENT?

You may feel better straight away. However, many people experience stiffness or tiredness after their first few sessions.

These effects should last no more than 48 hours and are signs that your body is responding well to the treatment.

Common side effects include:

  • Muscle stiffness or soreness

  • Tiredness

  • Headaches

  • Dizziness and lightheadedness
